 College: UNC-Chapel Hill, Bachelor of Science in 1968; UNC-Chapel Hill, Specialty in Accounting 1969; University of Illinois, Tax Research, 1971

Marriage: Married to Patricia Ramey, August 12, 1967

Children/Grandchildren: 2 sons, LeGrand and Noel, 1 grandson

Professional background: auditor and tax specialist for "Big-Six" CPA firms in the United States, Latin America and Africa; contract audit work for the Departments of Defense and Labor in the United States and Europe; construction project auditor/troubleshooter in Africa; 30 years as a self-employed accountant in Yanceyville, NC, providing tax preparation and small business services;farmer, raising tobacco, grain and cattle,

Political Experience: Elected in 1994 to first term in NC State Senate, representing Caswell, Alamance and parts of Person Counties; re-elected in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, & 2004. During twelve years in the NC State Senate, served on various committees, including: Finance; Appropriations; Environment & Natural Resources; Agriculture; State & Local Government; Judiciary; Administrative Procedures Oversight

Civic involvement: founding member Leasburg Volunteer Fire Department; former board president Leasburg Volunteer Fire Department; past president Leasburg Ruritan Club; Scoutmaster; former board member Caswell County Chamber of Commerce
